Well, a happy Monday indeed, friends! It’s launch day and I can’t tell you how great it feels to reveal a fresh face for my small space here on the world wide web! Some things will look exactly as they did and some things are all-new, but all of it comes together in a more user-friendly and enhanced online experience which puts a smile on my face. And I am hoping yours as well! Click on the image below or keep reading for more of a behind the scenes look!

Introducing a fresh face for KL&Co. |

Of course a launch can’t be complete without a little look behind the scenes. This has been some time in the making and I decided instead of making it a ‘Sleepless in Seattle’ type of situation (okay, yes I’m in the desert, but you get the picture), I would chip away at it. And I started from the very beginning with it including putting together my own brand inspiration and design board.

My style is ever-changing, but there are a few constants which allow my creative brain to get a break and for my husband to catch a breath (doing life with and supporting an artist and their ideas is no easy task, let me tell you). I love clean lines, I love a neutral color palette and I love unexpected quirks. And the honest truth? I fall in love with a lot of trends. I will always appreciate classics and I there are trends that I steer clear from completely when it comes to my own personal style – infinite scrolling on the web, ankle boots and pumpkin flavored food aside from pumpkin pie. There are plenty more, but those were the most important ones that I thought you needed to know about. Okay, back on subject… So down the rabbit Pinterest hole I went and gathered anything and everything that makes my heart swoon – colors, textures, patterns, decor, fashion – anything that puts a pep in my step. The result?

Brand inspiration for the KL&Co. refresh |

cafe  /  leather sofa  /  pillows  /  scarf  /  kraft boxes  /  lighting  /  blankets  /  field

And because I already had a grip on the face of my branding with an existing logo, the rest came together pretty easily and felt like a beautiful fit. So nice to create a visual to spell everything out and to always know the “brand rules” for all future projects!

And you can’t miss out on the mobile experience. Go ahead, check it out. I’ll wait…

Mobile website design using ShowIt for the KL&Co. refresh |

For those of you fellow photographers who might be wondering what platform I used for the design, the new website was set up and designed on ShowIt and the blog is powered through WordPress using ProPhoto. Some of you who have followed along for awhile probably remember that I was with ShowIt back in their early years and was with them for quite some time as well as involved heavily within their community. And then you might be wondering why the back and forth. As artists, I think we are always looking for the best fit as well as what makes the most sense on an entrepreneurial budget. A few years ago I was unhappy with the investment I was making into ShowIt without seeing the same mutual respect – lack of updates and lack of time invested into the software and system. Call it growing pains, but I found myself leaving to give something else a try. I have watched from afar as they have made adjustments, filled in the gaps and breathed life back into it and are truly being innovative with what they bring to the table for artists. If you have ever thought about giving it a try, I would highly suggest it. And if you have any questions about it, feel free to shoot me an email!

Alright, enough of the behind-the-scenes details and back to the party! Most of you are probably wondering what the giveaway is for today – am I right? Well, I thought I would start out with a few gift cards to some of the brands that inspired the refresh or helped along the way. So, today I am giving away the following…

Logo_starbucksone $25 gift card to Starbucks

No, this wasn’t that caffeine that I depended on through this project (*cough…RedBull…*cough), but I figured there are a lot of you Pumpkin Spice Latte lovers out there that might enjoy this right about now.

Anthropologie_TypeLogo_BW1one $25 gift card to Anthropologie

A brand who truly pays attention to the details in all the best ways and who creates an amazing experience for their customers at every point of contact. Anthropologie is one of my faves!

logo_restoration-hardwareand one $25 gift card to Restoration Hardware

Yes, this amount will probably score you an ornament for your tree this year, but you can’t deny RH and their ability to blend rustic, industrial and high end. Their clean lines and upscale branding are swoon worthy!

Beginning launch week with $75 in gifts and I am choosing three lucky winners! Be sure and follow these steps to get yourself entered by Friday, October 2nd and I will be announcing the winners in one week on Monday, October 5th:

Step 1. Leave a comment below

Step 2. Subscribe to the KL&Co. mailing list (I promise, everything is fantastic in the most beautiful minimal amount)

A huge thank you to those of you who have been sending words of excitement and encouragement. I am no stranger to re-design and re-branding as many of you may know, but as an artist my work is ever growing and changing and I want to make sure that my brand is the perfect fit at all times.

I’ll be back tomorrow with an even bigger giveaway so be sure and stay tuned all week long to catch the party! And if you want it delivered right to your inbox, all you need to do is subscribe.
